The FORTRESS
cameras are designed to hold rigid and IP-67 water-proof housing,
high resolution Sony CCD and IR illumination for outdoor
applications.
Furthermore, FortressWDR and
FORTRESSTDN incorporate WDR
(wide-dynamic -range) function and vari-focal lens, both are very
effective for acquiring quality image in strong and sophisticated
lightness condition.
WDR is a new digital technology, with which CCD scans one image
twice at different shutter speeds, and its corresponding DSP
(Digital Signal Processor) superimposes the two scannings into one
picture. Such processing increases camera's dynamic headroom by
100 times, compared to a normal camera.
All the FORTRESS cameras have dual video outputs of BNC and RJ-45
jack. RJ-45 jack is good for quick connectivity (sending video and
power through Cat-5 cable). The video-out of RJ-45 is boosted with
video amplifier in 4-levels, for compensating the video loss
across the Cat-5.
The vari-focal lens allows user to obtain the best view scope for
each specific surveillance spot. IR LEDs provide illumination for
camera in dark. |
|
FORTRESSTND
has a slider of IR filter. In normal light condition, the filter
cuts off infrared to keep color tone correct. Managed by the light
sensor, the IR filter will be removed in dark situation and
picture is turned into B/W mode so that color noise is removed and
illumination sensitivity is increased. |

WDR
camera -- Wide Dynamic
Range camera
The WDR camera is for producing and delivering clear
image to the objects surrounded by strong back light,
while still keeping the background visible.
WHY WDR ?
In the real world, natural light could range from
0.001 lux or even lower (totally dark) to 100,000 lux
and more (sunny day) --- just about the typical
outdoor lightness situation for most places.
On the other side, lightness for normal indoor
environment only ranges from tens to hundreds of lux.
So, if you have a normal camera viewing a target in
window or door background, you probably will have the
background washed out (picture 1) if shutter speed is
set up to low (for indoor), or the target is too dark
to recognize if shutter speed is high for outdoor (pictuer
2).
Similar problem may occur in many outdoor
applications, such as facing car head-light in night,
or large surface in mono-color which creates strong
reflection in day time .....

HOW it works
WDR is a new technology employing high-speed CCD and
makes two consecutive scans to one picture instead of
just one time that is used for all the traditional
cameras.
For the first scan, camera shoots at speed of 1/60
(1/50 for PAL) to acquire images as in normal
lightness condition. Right after it, the camera shoots
for the second time at high speed of 1/10,000 to get
the image under strong lightness. The image processor
then superimposes the two video datum in one to
provide a picture in superb visible quality for
man-eyes (picture 3).
WHAT to get
!
WDR camera increases the dynamic range by
approximately 100 times, compared to normal cameras,
meaning that inferior pictures caused by light
interference will be reduced or avoided, and security
level and quality will be highly improved. |
